The next big Challenge

This year has been particularly crucial for many reasons. As I discussed previously, these changes have also affected my personal life. During the last months, something very tough loomed. This year has reached record temperatures in different parts of the country. Severe droughts and intense heatwaves have caused this country to experience an energy crisis. Our power system relies on hydroelectric generation, so if the dry season continues, there will not be a solution. The government has announced power outages that lasted 14 hours. You're reading right. There have been 14 hours without electricity. As a result, many small businesses have reduced their production, and many employees now fear lay-offs and workload reduction. This is similar to the COVID-19 crisis, where many jobs vanished and people had to adapt their lives to a new lifestyle. Each week, new power cut schedules are announced, depending on your luck, it can last 4 or 5 hours in a row, it can be scheduled on midnigh...

September update

This blog hasn't been upgraded and there have been a lot of reasons why, I want to explain them and some things that have happened during the last month. August started with news about my last job, I decided to resign and began to focus on other things, although truth be told, the job environment was not precisely friendly. After some hard days, I was thinking about retaking my IELTS journey prep, so I started practising the simulation tests and watching some videos related to getting a higher score. It's no surprise that I still maintained a band 6, which is a little discouraging if I think about the time I spent practising. After waiting for my previous job payment, I realized maybe it would be wiser to wait instead of hurrying up to retake the test. I decided to spend some of that money on my teeth, I had some cavities to heal and it was a point I put on my 2024 list. Buying some stuff and paying some owes. Also, I had an appointment with the therapist, where I expected to s...

Prioritizing my to-do list

Since I started to document and follow my routine, endless things undone have reminded me that I need to make them time because they are also important. This feeling generates a guilty sentiment and anxiety for not giving them enough attention. But how do I prioritize among many significant things? Doing exercise is important, eating healthy too, studying and applying for jobs are equally important, but what receives more attention? what is not essential? This situation of deciding what requires more attention has put me in a challenging situation. Do I need to sacrifice my exercise routine to study more? What if I focus only on one thing at a time? While I worked my English routine decreased, and my motivation to study too, because as I mentioned before I was putting more time into either working or exercising. I thought I would have more time to do many things when I was younger, but the reality was different. Being an adult means you need to put some dreams aside if you want to avoi...

Lucid dreams

Since I started to take my treatment pills, I have experienced different kinds of adverse effects. From dizzies to increasing appetite, drowsiness, blurred vision, and the most notorious lucid dreams. In the beginning, when I started to develop insomnia, I barely could sleep 8 hours in a row. I used to wake up in the middle of the night due to my allergy, stress and fatigue. When I began to follow the treatment, my sleep patterns started to fix, and my overall health recovered.   Now while I sleep I experience many vivid dreams. Oftentimes I dream about my high school years and my time with my friends. I can hear them again all together in the classroom as we used to share most of our teenage years. Other times I dream about my old pets, old experiences, or from time to time about people that are no longer with me nowadays. It's curious how the mind can recreate and imagine thousands of scenarios. Now, after a month since I started the treatment, I am used to dreaming vividly and l...

June Review

It has been 6 tough months in 2024, probably the most challenging year since I graduated. This month has been particularly interesting because I've created my portfolio, showing my work and past projects. On the other hand, I realized my job search is stagnant, so I will take a break from LinkedIn and projects. Instead, I will focus on the next scholarship, the DAAD. I need to gather the required information and complete the forms to apply, I think I can submit my application early in August. This month I solved my debts and finally acquired a monitor, I bought it from a friend. It has been one of my useful acquisitions by far, now I finally can work on a big screen and avoid visual fatigue. Regarding my skin condition, it is under control. Since the last flare-up, my eczema has progressed well. I am still following the medical treatment. About taking my IELTS, after thinking of retaking the test I decided to wait until it expires, meanwhile, I will continue to practice my skills. ...

Bet big or quit

You can think all of this is either luck or a curse, that time is ticking and opportunities just vanish, that I’ve already lived the best moments in my life or just I didn't take advantage of them. After pursuing many things before I considered priorities in my life, now I realize it is OK not to accomplish everything I expected. Over the years, I attempted to get my life in order and become a functional adult, but after coming and going I've failed. Maybe winning is not for me, but when I want to give up, there is something that motivates me to try one last time, and then the history repeats over and over again. This daydreamer is used to fail more times than I remember, after 5 years each rejection hurts less. I've seen my friends, family, and job mates being successful, reaching goals and even winning this unfair game of life. Anyway, it doesn't bother me at all, I'm happy of seeing them accomplish their dreams. Now another chance is coming, the DAAD scholarship ...

A second thought

This month started without notice, and now I think we are in the middle of the year. Everything seems to pass so fast, I am surprised all lived until now. During this year, I received a payment for a past job I did, it was not so much, but it was enough to cover some expenditures and debts. I had to prioritize some bills, cover one or two grocery expenses, and of course my medical bills and treatments. While all of these happened, I could organize a good workspace, acquire some stuff to enhance my productivity and at the same embellish my bedroom and home. As a result of all of these, over the weeks my bank account was shrinking, but I was not worrying about it. I mean, it was unfortunate all the treatments and bills I had to pay, but at least I could afford it (with help from my family). But I had two remaining payments. The first one was the screen I bought from a friend, it was a second-hand purchase, but I have to admit, it skyrocketed my productivity and work comfort. In the begin...
