2022 is finally over, and today is the last day we gathered to celebrate another year of life; many of us had the luck to be with our families surrounded by our beloved ones. Personally, this year has been the year in which I accomplished most of my objectives planned in 2021 During this time, I got two different jobs, lost 2 of my beloved pets, got the English certification, had the opportunity of following a vegetarian diet, returned to the gym, and started to meditate again. I am conscient of the fortunate man I was. This year my sister got married, and I had the news I will be an uncle in my 28s. I went to another city to visit my friend and had the opportunity of participating in a running competition again; returning to the gym gave me the endurance to run again up to the 10k. I returned to reading and strolling with my dogs during the noons. Tonight we celebrate Christmas eve; it is a unique event because my entire family will be gathered, celebrating life and health this year; it is my favourite holiday and one of the closest events I could ever share with my relatives.  Despite the distances, some of my relatives have come from distant places, even crossing the country, to share quality time with their beloved families. Even though the situation may not be as favourable as many of us had wanted, the desire to see it one more time is stronger. To me, it is time for reflection; at the door of another new year, I have to think about my goals and contemplate my future; during this time, I have learned and lost many things; the process has been tough but always has left learnings. 2022 has been a year of surprises and defiances, many of which have marked my life. Many things have changed during this time; I first experienced many of these occurrences throughout 2022, and many were useful experiences and some other disastrous things. This week after 11 years alongside our family, my oldest female dog has passed away. I had noticed she had problems with her breath from her; every exhalation she did turn into notorious; we thought it was normal and could be the result of the change of station during the night; the weather was cold, especially during these days. On Monday morning, as usual, I got up and went to the yard to give the pill to my dog; I noticed that she was nervous and wanted to express something, but I didn't understand what. I prepared my breakfast and tried to give them the yolk of my boiled eggs, but she didn't like it. I decided to communicate with my mother what I had seen before I left my house; I took my dog with my hands and left her inside my house without realizing that it would be the last time I saw her again. The last Friday, my sister had to expose their degree thesis, which is a decisive step in her medical career. After years of study, many bad nights, hard exams, complicated books and terms about the human body, illnesses and many other complex assignments related to medicine, she could finally graduate with honours. She was always the brain of our family and the most mature of us (although I could have conspired about that). That day, my younger sister, my mom, my brother-in-law and I were witnesses of her dissertation. I had just arrived after taking the exam the day before. The act was kind of private; only the close family were there and had the opportunity of seeing the dissertation. The reviewers were polite and respectful of my sister's exposition. After several months of preparation, the desire of one day taking the IELTS exam finally came; 24th November was the date chosen to take the test. I had to travel to Quito two days before the exam; I was anxious about the day of the test because, among other things, it would be my only chance to take it. When I travelled to Quito, I thought about how much time I spent until acquiring the language; how many videos, recordings, posts, and podcasts did I consume all this time? Hundreds of hours, some without the idea that someday my efforts will be worth its costs. I decided to stop studying while I was and stayed in Quito; there, a good friend gave me a stay in a flat for two days while I was there. Time was clocking, and I started to feel the pressure. Today it disputed the first game in the Fifa World Cup organized by Qatar; in the mid of scandals and polemics, the first match was played between the locals Qatar vs Ecuador. During the opening ceremony, it could see a completely new stadium full of the most advanced technology to start this event. After the opening ceremony, the two teams split into the field, the national anthems gave the beginning to both teams, and around 5000 Ecuadorians were assisted in witnessing that match. In the beginning, the Ecuadorian team was widely superior to their rivals; the team was clever in the passes and the execution of the plays. In minute 2, a goal was annulated; after a polemic offside given from the VAR system, the Ecuadorian team didn't give his arm to twist. This weekend will take place on the World Cup's inaugural day; 32 national teams will dispute matches to reach the trophy, including my national football team, Ecuador. Yesterday, the Football Federation of my country announced the definite list of players that will be travelling to Qatar.  The list was conformed of 26 players and was a mix of youth and expertise. The soccer team will be among the youngest in dispute in the world cup. The inaugural match will be Qatar vs Ecuador; the eyes of the entire world will be in that event. There is a high expectancy for the national team; Ecuador was one of the four Latin American teams classified for this World Cup. The other three selections were Argentina, Brazil, and Uruguay. Ecuador forms part of group A; that group are conformed of Netherlands, Senegal and the host Qatar.
