Going to the Gym with My Mum

For almost 14 years, I have practiced exercise regularly, but it has often been a lonely activity. Training sessions at the gym or going for long runs require time, effort, and dedication. Throughout these years, I barely remember doing outdoor activities with my family, as exercise is not something they commonly engage in, even though most of them have a background in medicine.

Recently, I managed to convince my mum to join me at the gym. At first, she was skeptical about whether or not she wanted to go. I paid for a two-month subscription without any conditions; she could attend at any time from Monday to Saturday.

She accepted, and after a couple of sessions alongside my aunt, she began to enjoy the training. Initially, she focused on the machines, but over time, she started taking yoga classes and adding cardio workouts to her routine. At 50 years old, this is the longest period she has engaged in any sport or exercise.

I am thrilled for her. Building a new hobby can be challenging, especially when you're just starting out. Over time our bodies can suffer from lack of physical activity and sedentism, although, exercise is something that is accessible to everyone, regardless of age.

Now, she feels more energized, stronger, and has noticed some weight loss. Yesterday, we went to the gym together, where I explained how to use various machines and suggested exercises that would be beneficial for her.

I am convinced this positive change will enhance her life. With time and dedication, she will see long-term results.
