Habits and Supplements

This year, I decided to incorporate gym supplements into my plan to recover strength and endurance. Over the past four years, I have exercised regularly, but I didn’t take any supplements, partly because I believed that a good diet was sufficient.

What prompted me to change my mind about supplements? It wasn’t just one thing. I started to feel stagnant in my gym progress, and it affected me not only physically but mentally as well. My ability to focus diminished over time. Perhaps this was a result of aging or the fact that my body was transitioning from youth to adulthood.

Additionally, last year, I experienced a severe allergy, the cause of which I still don’t understand. Regardless, I felt that the food I was consuming wasn’t enough, so I decided to start taking vitamins and minerals to help my body recover more quickly from long days. Initially, I experienced some benefits, especially for my skin. However, I still felt as though I wasn't making any progress in the gym or in my running routines. This led me to re-enter the world of supplements.

At first, I was skeptical. I was aware that many gym supplements, especially whey protein and similar products, were simply overpriced items with fancy labels and clever marketing. I considered them a waste of money, but since I could afford them, I decided to give them a try.

I began with creatine, which I had used in 2021 and found beneficial; it’s also one of the more affordable options. Next, I purchased a protein powder. Knowing that I had developed lactose intolerance and was prone to acne flare-ups, I opted for a vegan protein, which can be hard to find.

Since starting to take these supplements regularly, I have noticed some improvements. Whether it’s the placebo effect or something more tangible, I feel that I recover better after training. The extra protein intake has positively impacted my skin, digestion, and even my hair, which has been falling out for the past year.

I have been using these supplements for over a month and a half now, and I've decided to continue taking them to see how my progress evolves.
