Can't Hurt Me ✊🏻

Finally, I finished reading my second book, Can't Hurt Me, written by David Goggins; this book is a kind of self-biography which gather the life of Goggins, an ex-Navy Seal, Ironman athlete and pul-ups world record holder.

His childhood was conflictive and turbulent, with episodes of domestic violence and racism; in this book, the author relates how his family had to fight against the conflicts and economic disadvantages in his hometown.

David Goggins had a mediocre life before enrolling on the military, his life was messed up, and he was struggling with depression, being overweight and self-esteem problems. One day, while he was in his house, suddenly, he listened to an announcement from the U.S. Navy Seals to enrol new aspirants, encouraging him to belong to be part of the military; he began the journey to lose weight.

He relates to having lost around 130 pounds in only 6 months; he developed a "callous mentality", which helped to follow a strict exercise regimen. When he finally could reach the optimal weight, he could enrol in the Navy Seals school, and after a first failed attempt, he could graduate with honours in the army.

Goggins didn't stop there; after reaching his place in the troops, he pushed his limits even more and decided to be "The best among the best". He participated in hundreds of running competitions and ironman events and re-coursed again the "Hell Week", the challenge before obtaining the title of a navy seal. He maintained the record of doing the most pull-ups in 24 hours, with a total of 4030.

Despite being born into a conflictive family, with all the probabilities against him, he taught us to persevere and not lose focus. Can't Hurt Me is an inspirational book for everyone who fell lost in life, which the author demonstrates to us that our barriers are not physical but mental; and that we can master our minds and defy the odds.
