Mac 💓🎧🍀
When I was thinking about writing this blog about the music of Mac Miller and how it impact my life, I didn't know how to start, I have to admit I was a little bit insecure about how can I write this.
My first approach to this artist was in the middle of 2019, once I finished college and was working in the jewelry store of my uncle. One of the first music I listened to of him was "Hand me downs" because my cousin who works in this place too reproduced his music, and often played it as background music in the store.
At the start, I didn't pay attention to the music but the melody sounded like a mix of various genres, I could appreciate some samples of jazz, lofi, and R&B. After weeks passed, resulted more easily realized when a track by Mac Miller was sound in the speakers, so when I finished working in the jewelry I lost the track of Mac Miller and his music, back then I didn't realize Mac Miller had passed away.
Once, the pandemic forced all of us to enclose ourselves and forced us to stay in our houses, again Mac Miller being sounded on my playlists again, in that time I knew who was Mac and had more tracks that liked so much of him. At that moment, I didn't feel good at all, and I like to think that Mack Miller helped me to carry on with my problems. I understand the lyrics, it seemed these lyrics were thinking about this kind of situation.
In 2021, when I had to resign from my previous work, his music helped me a lot with my anxiety and depression as a result of working in a bad place, which added to the crisis of being unemployed. I started to dedicate him a playlist with his music and many other artists who played tribute to him.
Nowadays, his music transports me to other places and remembers me with the promises that everything is going to be good, that there is something beyond our problems If you feel down is normal to turn away from the world for a while and find yourself again.
His posthumous album called "Circles" is a pearl of his career, I recommend you to hear it and let you go throughout his lyrics.
Thanks a lot, Mac. Wherever you are...
~S.
