Last week, the country underwent a presidential transition amidst a severe crisis. The government conducted a peaceful transfer of power, and the newly elected president is now faced with the daunting task of resolving the major issues within a short span of 18 months. The previous president, Guillermo Lasso, called for early elections in the middle of this year amidst a political crisis that threatened democracy. However, his term lasted only 900 days and he left the presidency amid disapproval and rejection from the public. Unfortunately, his actions failed to make the necessary impact that the country needed. The last few months of his presidency were particularly difficult, marked by violent protests, electricity shortages, the El Nino phenomenon, mounting economic debt, and other challenges.
