New Manifestations: When a social claim turns into vandalism. (and viceversa)

The news about my country (Ecuador) not has been very positive this month; with the rise in the gas prices, inequity and socio-politics conflicts, now there is a new conflict that the president must face: a new wave of social protest.

Latin America, and more precisely Ecuador, never has been a united country and equal; despite their short territory, most citizens have been separated into bands or disgregated into social/political groups.

Each time one group or mobilization announced measures to manifest about the current government, the risk of vandalism or shutdown of the leading public services exists. The most recent manifestation has begun, and with it, a long story of destruction and services paralyzed; this only aggravates our country's current economic situation at the time that can cost dozens of lives.

Many parties and labour unions have mobilized to block the main highway, letting a shortage of the top products and services like gas, oil, food, transportation and many others. They urge to regulate prices of the first necessity products and control the gas costs.

On the other hand, many parties and people affiliated with the government have unappreciated and tried to minimize the current crisis. They said these new increases are due to a wave of previous inadequate economic measures.

Meanwhile, the country is now diving into a new wave of conflicts and manifestations. While this disagreement is not solved, the government will continue struggling with this protest.
